Grandpa Louis

Grandpa Louis’ challenge

Family strength, connection and positivity!

What was your challenge and why did you want to do this?

“Our challenge was to complete the 10 miles together as three generations. For us, it was not only about the achievement, but also the meaning behind it. Vava used to run a lot and participated in numerous running races, including the Stadsloop in Ghent in 1997. We loved the idea of bringing him back to the running world and making him part of an event in Ghent.”

What did it do to you guys?

“It was an absolutely wonderful experience. Vava had been looking forward to it for a long time. It was so nice to run together as a family and bring him along. Normally he is the loyal supporter, but now he was able to participate himself again. It brought us closer together as a family. Some of us walked, others stood along the side to support. We did it together. It was exhausting, but it filled us with satisfaction. For 16 kilometers, we enjoyed the atmosphere. It was really unforgettable to experience that together. We also have enormous respect for the buddies!”

Vava: “Fantastic to be involved in the running. It was the day of my life! There was a lot of crowd, the weather was beautiful, everything was perfect. There were so many supporters calling my name. Super that Triple Challenge made this possible.”
Moemoe: “It was great to support, we saw the flag of Triple Challenge and knew they were around. It was very special to experience this and participate in such a big event.”

What is the most memorable moment of your challenge that sticks with you?

“The indescribable joy of vava. Before, during and after the run. Our goal was to give him a great experience, and we more than achieved that. He is also extra proud of the fact that he was first in the ranking of those over 80 😀 “

Moemoe and Vava: “What struck us most was that there were so many different participants in Triple Challenge, from young to old, regardless of their experience with sports. There were also young children with disabilities. It was a wonderful organization where families and children worked together to cross the finish line. Everything was perfectly organized. A big congratulations to Triple Challenge, who made this possible.”.

The Push Buddy Challenge of vava Louis and his family at the 10 miles was not only a sporting achievement, but also a celebration of family bonds and inclusion. When generations work together and join forces, they make extraordinary achievements and unforgettable moments. Triple Challenge Heroes Sport and Change the World For Good ❤️💚💜
